✨ 8 Tricks to taking the perfect OOTD! 📷
Looking back on Lunar New Year, it appears that the one huge takeaway (besides all the angpows that we have received and all the goodies that we have eaten) is the number of OOTDs flooding through Instagram! Almost everyday of the week we will see new OOTDs popping up on our Instagram feed and my, it sure is a huge source of inspiration!
From there, we have decided to pick out a few photos and share with our dear readers the different tricks you can use for your perfect OOTD photo! Read on to find out!

#1 + #2: Look away from camera
No matter what kind of photo, one that looks natural and candid is always best. One trick to taking an OOTD that does not make it look too forceful is to look away from the camera. Looking down may be one trick to looking candid - as if there is something at the ground that is super interesting!
Looking elsewhere (right/left) has also been a photographer's favourite.
"Look far" is something that is pretty commonly heard when a photographer is shooting someone who is new to modelling (similar to brides taking their wedding photos). You may also hear things like "look endearingly at something" so on and forth!
#3 + #4: Rule of Thirds & Center Rule
If you study photography or actually read up on it before, you would have come across the term: Rule of Thirds. Simply put, just imagine dividing your virtual image to three parts and positioning your subject at 1/3 of the image. This trick adds sophistication and depth to your image as it draws the viewers into the entire image composition instead of just the subject.
Rule of Center is also one of the common ways of taking photos and is frequently used if you would like to draw attention to the subject. This is done so after analysing the entire composition and positioning your subject at the most balanced position (almost like symmetry)!

After going through the basic rules of photography, let's go into the posing tricks!
#5: Position your hands
Hands may sometimes be awkward (like you have no idea where to place your hands for a photo, especially when you are the only subject in the photo!).
"Should you place your hands stiff-straight at the side, or at the back to make the photo look less awkward?"
Well, the trick is really to place your hands at a comfortable position that you will usually put them at. People don't usually put their hands stiff beside their body, but in a more relaxed manner!
#6: Angle your image!
In the event where you do not exactly have the advantage of height, learning the angles to taking your perfect OOTD becomes exceedingly important. Of course, we wouldn't recommend you to literally touching the ground with your camera but a good starting point is to position the camera anywhere between the height of the subject's hip to thigh area! From there, you will certainly need to take a few more shots to truly know where the best angle is at!
#7: There's more to sitting than you know!
What happens if you don't want to do those boring, standing OOTD shots?
There's always the sitting option. Yet, there is more to sitting than we know! How do you take a pretty OOTD sitting down? It truly isn't easy! Well, you can start with first going for your preferred angle, then positioning your legs in a way that look flattering and endless - one leg to the front, one leg to the back - you get the gist!
#8: No better way than to Act Cute when all goes wrong :P
And if all the above-mentioned doesn't seem to work for you... follow our youngest inspiration here and make your cutest pout! It almost always work!
